Tom spent 10 years as a columnist and Fly Fishing Editor at Outdoor Canada. In recent years, Tom has taken a more prominent role in competitive activities, including his position as coach of Team Canada's Youth Fly Fishing team. Tom was also a competitor on Canada's Fly Fishing Team in the 2000 Commonwealth Championships in England; one year later, he joined the Canadian team to compete in the World Championships in Sweden. Tom continues to teach fly tying classes, sharing the expertise that comes with his 28 years of fly  fishing and tying experience. In between Tom's many other activities, his love of the north draws him to his favourite region anywhere between the 50th and 51st parallel in Labrador, Quebec and Ontario for stillwater fly fishing at its best.
